Why material of business card is more important than text

Business cards are like bananas: they are simple and informative. Once scientists, who love to study everything, looked at business cards and discovered an astonishing thing. Please sit down.

They proved that material of business cards is more important than information on them.

material of business card

Scientist’s experiment was ethically questionable, but convincing for 100%.

A scientist Edward Klapared lived in Switzerland. He made and described an interesting investigation. Professor did shake hands with patients, who had amnesia. He did it and the same time pricked the patients with an hidden needle.

Next day poor patient did not remember Edward nor needle, but did not give hand for shaking. Not anymore.

Let’s bring up our erudition and real scientific explanation of this puzzle.

A man has two types of memory:

  1. Declarative. This is conscious memory, which allows to remember name of a man, who gave you his business card.
  2. Procedural. This is unconscious remembrance of emotional stimuli. Impressions from experiences are staying in memory this way.

How do you think which type of memory lasts longer?

Second one. The unconscious.

A person has already forgotten your name, but remembers impression of your business card – nice texture of paper, feelings, emotions… He does not understand why that all is coming up from memory. The brain is working such a way.

There is quite limited number of ways one can put information on a rectangular piece of paper. It is much easier to stress your status by printing quality and used material. Of course it does not mean that one must not make layout. Business card is a source of information in first hand. This is its nature as well as banana’s nature is to have sweet taste and being nourishing.

Invest your money in advertising the right way. Business cards made from cheap material are working like needle in experiment of Edward Klapared.
