How did bananas got stickers?

In 19th century bananas was exotic in Europe. 🍌 Fyffes had monopoly on selling bananas in Great Britain. Unexpectedly active competitors showed up. They took over supply channels and followed close to the heels.

Poor Fyffes spent big money for commercials, but unfortunately their bananas did not differ from competitor’s production. 🤪

Then promotion department thought of a small, discernible mark on bananas. So the first stickers showed up. They was glued on bananas using a hygroscopic glue.

How stickers are handy today?
