Man who invented copier or how Xerox became famous

Xerox did manufacture photopaper for printing and Battelle’s research institute did not want to develop foreign ideas.

However state of stars influenced managers of institute, and they allocated 13000 dollars for research of Chester’s device. Haloid tried to escape from neighbors Estman Kodak shadow and staked everything. In 1946 Battelle’s institute, Haloid and Carlson made agreement about licence of commercial electrophotograph.

It is seen a schema of Cherter’s Carlson’s photocopy machine in the picture with improovements from scientists of Battelle’s institute.

Man who invented copier

The first copier was huge and expensive machine in casing of wood. Color did not stick well on paper and often smudged on paper like overripe banana in hands. To overcome this, it was needed to warm up the paper quite a lot, therefore machines catched fire time to time. Until 1960 copiers had a fire extinguisher built in.

Photocopy machine was improved. In year 1960 Carlson’s dream came true – Xerox 914 was developed and manufactured. This machine was light and easy to operate. It did make copies on usual lists of paper. It did work the same way as in nowadays: list of paper is put on, button pressed, and copy comes out.

The Haloid’s venturesome investment did give a great profit, because copier had dizzy success. It changed the working process with paper documents. Developments of Xerox influenced the course of events – new kind of printing machines or digital printing was emerging.

Therefore 20th century inventor Chester Carlson founded a new branch of industry.
